Spotlight on the Purdue-Calumet QuarkNet Center: You probably know about Purdue University—Boilermakers, West Lafayette—but there is more than one Purdue. Purdue University Calumet is a mostly commuter university in northwest Indiana, a few hours up I-65 from its famous cousin. Purdue-Calumet has particle physics research and, as of 2014, a QuarkNet center headed up by CMS physicist Neeti Parashar. You may have met Neeti on Vidyo; she has been a moderator in masterclass videoconferences at Fermilab for several years. The Purdue-Calumet QuarkNet Center consists of Dr. Parashar and two lead teachers, Adam Erler and Larry Hautzinger, who did research together at Fermilab this past summer on the CMS upgrade. The next steps for the new center are a masterclass this March followed by an associate teacher institute this summer. A warm welcome to Purdue-Calumet!
